Aberdeen Chorus Celebrates its 30th Anniversary

30 years ago a small group of women gathered to try out singing in a style that was new to Aberdeen.

They formed a small group singing a cappella 4 part harmony in the barbershop style.

Thirty years on that group has now grown into the Aberdeen Chorus of Sweet Adelines, a member of the worldwide organisation of singers, Sweet Adelines International, and has close to 100 members.

On Friday 17th September 2010 the chorus will mark the 30th anniversary with their biggest ever concert in Aberdeen as they take to the stage in Aberdeen's Music Hall for their Grand Charity Show in aid of Cornerstone, who also celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2010.

They will be joined by their special guests, local men's barbershop group, The Granite City Chorus and locally renowned comedy troupe The Flying Pigs.
