May 2004 - UK & Ireland Convention, Glasgow, Scotland
As
chorus champions in 2003, the chorus did not compete in the annual
contest in 2004, but performed in the final show held in the Royal
Concert Hall in Glasgow. The chorus chose to present a "potted" version of their
Christmas pantomime which had been performed at Christmas 2003 in and around
Aberdeen. Director, Gwen Topp, had the honour of directing the "Mass Sing" of
all the chorus competitors which took place outside on the steps of the Concert
Hall.
For the first time there were 4
quartets representing
the chorus in the competition.
July 2004 - Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Wales
This was an exciting new experience for the Aberdeen Chorus.
The opening parade through the streets of Llangollen was a thrilling experience,
and together with the privilege of singing on the wonderful Eisteddfod stage,
made it a week to remember.
August 2004 - European Educational
Symposium, Glasgow
A contingent from the chorus made the
trip to Glasgow to attend the second EES.
October 2004 - Irish Association of Barbershop Singers Convention, Tallaght,
Dublin
Another first for the chorus this year was a visit to the IABS
convention in Tallaght, just outside Dublin where the chorus took 3rd place in
the International Chorus section of the competition.
Christmas 2004 - Almost the Wizard of Oz
Once again
the chorus performed their Christmas show in 3 venues around
Aberdeen thrilling audiences with their original version of The
Wizard of Oz.
